Coursework throughout the course utilises realistic scenarios intended to prepare students for their career after university. This applies both to the technical areas studied, but also the output required from the student such as technical proposals or reports to management

Much of the coursework undertaken by students is project based and often involves group working. The ability to work successfully and productively in teams is an essential element of modern software engineering.

This is a Top-Up programme designed to allow you to progress from an appropriate prior qualification to an honours degree level. An induction programme will facilitate effective transition to honours degree study.

There’re 3 modules, totaling 120 credits in BEng (Hons) Software Engineering Top Up program. You’ll be assessed through coursework, essays and case studies. Each module is delivered in a one-week block of lectures, tutorials and seminars. This means it’s easy to fit learning around work and personal commitments.

You must have both of the following;

• For direct entry to Level HE6 (top-up), you will need either a foundation degree (FdSc or FdEng) or an HND in software engineering, cloud computing, networking and security or a similar computing or programming related course.
• If you don't meet the standard entry requirements, but have non-traditional qualifications and/or relevant experience, we'll be happy to consider your application. You'll be required to undertake an assessment to determine your suitability for the course. You'll be assessed on your problem solving skills and your ability to participate in group work.
• You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.
• If English isn’t your first language, you’ll also need IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent).
